The choice of filling material depends on the tooth&#8217;s position and funciton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Molar teeth, which bear most of the chewing function, require a more durable material compared to anterior teeth, which need to be resilient to greater biting forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Advantages_of_Porcelain_Inlays_and_Onlays\"><\/span>Advantages of Porcelain Inlays and Onlays<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aesthetic: Porcelain inlays and onlays offer excellent aesthetics, mimicking the natural appearance of teeth.<br>Durability: They are long-lasting restorations, providing durability over time.<br>Preservation of Healthy Tooth Structure: These restorations help conserve the remaining healthy tooth structure.<br>Minimal risk of Marginal Leakage and New Decay: The risk of marginal leakage and the development of new cavities is minimized.<br>Biological Compatibility: They exhibit good biological compatibility and do not trigger allergic reactions.<br>Reduced Bacterial Plaque Accumulation: Porcelain surfaces discourage bacterial plaque build up.<br>Time-saving: The process saves time by minimizing the need for multiple appointments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After tooth preparations are completed, precise measurements are taken from the teeth. These measurements are then used to create a composite model. Temporary fillings are placed to protect the teeth until the next appointment. The finished porcelain inlays\/onlays are first tested on a plaster model and prepared for the final appointment. They are bonded to the teeth using an adhesive cement, enhancing the strength of the remaining tooth structure. Following the bonding process, polishing and finishing are performed to complete the procedure. Porcelain inlays and onlays are known for their superior aesthetics and durability.They offer excellent compatibility with the surrounding teeth, as they are custom-made in a laboratory setting, ensuring a precise fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The key advantage of porcelain inlays\/onlays lies in their preparation process outside the mouth. After removing the damaged or decayed portion of the tooth, the remaining healthy portion is precisely measured and sent to the laboratory.
